Tina Anstett, J.D. is an Executive Director, ERISA strategist with 29 years of retirement plan industry experience.

Tina oversees the development and delivery of retirement insights, focusing on the regulatory and legislative landscape. A technical translator with deep industry experience from the legal, regulatory, service provider, financial professional, and plan sponsor perspectives, she is driven to support workplace savings plans to help workers have access, and achieve financial wellness and retirement security.

Throughout her career, Tina has specialized in the design, implementation, ongoing administration and fiduciary governance of employee retirement programs with a focus on defined contribution plans. In addition to supporting financial professionals in plan distribution and sales, she has worked directly with plan sponsors in designing new qualified retirement plans and in evaluating existing plans to keep pace with industry standards, business objectives, and to facilitate plan administration. Tina has also consulted with plan sponsors regarding the effects of changes in corporate structure and other corporate transactions on retirement plans, provided support with respect to IRS and DOL audits, correction of plan defects, as well as ongoing compliance with constantly changing federal laws and regulations.

In her most recent role as Chief Legal Officer and Head of Fiduciary Services at Smart USA Co. (Smart), Tina supported the design and delivery of Smart’s ERISA fiduciary oversight services, provided regulatory guidance in Smart’s retirement plan technology development process, as well as provided general legal and governance support to Smart and its subsidiaries. She sat on the Board of Directors of Smart subsidiary Smart Retirement Solutions, Inc. (SRS) and was a member of the SRS Fiduciary Oversight Committee.

Tina is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and a presenter of seminars, webinars, and training programs. Prior to joining Smart in 2022, she served as Director, Advanced Markets-401(k) and later Director, Product Regulatory and Sales Support within Equitable’s Group Retirement business since 2013. Prior to joining Equitable, Tina served as Chief Legal Officer for USI Consulting Group. She holds a BA from New York University, a JD from Western New England University School of Law and is a member of the Connecticut Bar.
