- Applicable to personal account application only. For joint and corporate account application, please make an appointment with our Direct Sales Team by email.
- Account opening can be done online as quickly as one business day, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria, and have submitted all required documents with correct information provided, and you may start investing on the next business day. (However, due to bank processing time, some applications may take longer).
Frequently asked questions on J.P. Morgan DIRECT Investment Platform
At J.P. Morgan Asset Management, opening a fund investment account online is free of charge.
However, as part of the account opening identity verification procedure, you are required to successfully transfer HK$10,000 from your registered Specified Bank account to J.P. Morgan Asset Management pursuant to local regulatory requirements. This HK$10,000 will be available as ^Cash Account balance under your MasterAccount.
- ^ Cash Account service: We may, but we are not obligated to, provide to you the services of facilitating you to (i) top up, using direct debit authorisation (“eDDA”), your cash balance of the account which we designate from time to time; (ii) subscribe, purchase or otherwise deal with any units/shares in any fund/share classes using such cash balance; and (iii) withdraw cash in HKD by standing instructions. It is currently not feasible for you to (i) redeem your holding in any units/shares in any fund/share classes into cash balance in the Cash Account; or (ii) receive cash dividends from your holding in any units/shares in any fund/share classes into cash balance in the Cash Account.
- Depositing cash in the Cash Account is not the same as making a deposit with a bank or deposit-taking company. The Cash Account is a cash management tool that facilitates transactions in unit/shares, and should not be construed or used as a normal banking account where monies are deposited for the purpose of earning interest.
- The Cash Account is denominated in Hong Kong Dollars. Moneys held in the Cash Account are not interest-bearing.
- The minimum top-up amount for Cash Account services is HK$1,000. The minimum withdrawal amount for Cash Account service is HK$5,000, or your full remaining balance, whichever is lower.
- Withdrawals from the Cash Account will, subject to the processing time of your own account bank, normally be paid within 5 business days. You may be liable for any bank charges on payment by telegraphic/bank transfer. Where you have not provided bank payment details or the bank payment details provided are incorrect, the withdrawal instruction will not be proceeded/ will be put on hold. Payment of cash withdrawal proceeds will only be made upon you providing the correct bank payment details. No third party payments will be made.
- In order to top-up or withdraw cash from the Cash Account, you shall maintain a bank account with one of the banks as JPMorgan Funds (Asia) Limited may at its sole discretion designate (“Specified Banks”), as may be revised from time to time and, as of now, as specified under here. For the avoidance of doubt, if you do not or no longer maintain a bank account with any of the Specified Banks, (i) you may not be able to top up the Cash Account, and (ii) upon giving any instruction to withdraw any balance from the Cash Account, you may be required to withdraw the full remaining balance from the Cash Account.
- If account opening is unsuccessful, the HK$10,000 will directly be refunded to the same bank account provided (Please note that your bank may impose charges on the refund).
To open your account online, have your Hong Kong Identity Card (HKID)/ Passport and signature ready. We may also need further information from you to facilitate the account opening process.

For online account applications that are submitted with all required documents and correct information, the account process can be completed as soon as within the same business day with investment commencing the next business day. (Note: some applications may take longer in view of bank processing time).
At J.P. Morgan DIRECT Investment Platform, you can start investing with as low as HK$1,000 for monthly investment plans and HK$5,000** for lump-sum investments.
