May 2018 - The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

What is the GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), coming into effect on 25 May 2018, will replace the Data Protection Act 1998, which was brought into law as a way to control how personal information is used by organisations.

The General Data Protection Regulation seeks to give you further control over how organisations use your data and is a positive step to continue to ensure that your data is processed in a fair and lawful manner.

With this in mind, we have updated our EMEA Privacy Policy to reflect the regulatory changes.

How will you benefit from the GDPR?

Giving you more transparency

We will provide greater detail to you about the categories of personal data that we may collect on you and the reasons why we collect this data (e.g. providing services to you, conducting marketing activities and complying with applicable law).

Providing greater visibility

The changes to our EMEA Privacy Policy will provide information about the third parties to whom we may disclose your personal data to (e.g. other members of the JPMorgan group, service providers, and law enforcement agencies), as well as explain the steps that we take to protect your data (e.g. data security, data accuracy and data minimisation).

Giving you more control

We will provide you with information about your legal rights under the Regulation (e.g. the right to request access to your data, the right to object to processing your data, and the right to deletion) together with an explanation of how those rights can be exercised.
