This slide shows the contributors to quarterly annualized GDP growth in the U.S. After the U.S. economy recovered rapidly in 2021 following the pandemic, growth has been normalizing but remains strong due to resilient consumer spending. In the table, we show the average share of nominal GDP that each component accounts for, along with their average contribution to real GDP growth from 2000 to 2024. Then, we show their contribution to growth in the latest quarter. You can see that the powerhouse of the economy is consumer spending, accounting for nearly 70% of the economy.
