This page gives an indication of the stage of recovery in global supply chains. Most of the world's manufactured goods are shipped in containers, and global port calls can give us an idea of how trade is faring. This is shown in the left chart, where global port calls declined in 1H20 due to the pandemic before recovering in 2H20, and is off to a bright start in 2021. The right chart shows the delivery supplier time component of the Purchasing Managers' Index. A reading below 50 means longer delivery times and could imply either low demand for goods or a bottleneck in deliveries, and vice versa.
