This page looks at how movement activity in China has behaved during lockdowns, giving us an idea of how economic activity will be affected and whether we can expect pick-ups or slowdowns in growth. On the left, we have airline traffic and COVID-19 cases. International flight traffic is still depressed compared to the 2019 average. The right side chart looks at subway traffic as a guide for how active a typical city might be. China is a large country and the 3 major cities of Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai are shown to illustrate how conditions will vary depending on local outbreak conditions.
