Geopolitical issues between China and the U.S. continue to be a point of interest for markets and the relationship between such large and important countries could have a number of spillover effects across the world economy. On the left, we look at foreign direct investment (FDI) between the two countries. U.S. investment into China has been fairly consistent, while the FDI in the other direction has slowed. On the right, we look at how trade between the two countries has developed since tariffs were imposed on Chinese exports.
