The China A-share market has drawn a lot of attention with China's continued growth and increased significance to the global economy. While China makes up a major proportion of emerging market GDP growth and market capitalization, its weighting in the MSCI benchmark indices is relatively small. Meanwhile, the A-H premium index in the right chart measures the absolute price premium (or discount) of A-shares over H-shares. The A-shares and H-share prices of the same company generally diverge due to different market environments, different groups of investors as well as the inconvertibility between A- and H-shares. This index is a simple and easy-to-follow barometer for investors to track such price differences.
